Photographing star trails workshop schedule

DAY 1: PARK TOUR & THE FUNDAMENTALS OF STAR TRAILS
Our first day begins with a scouting tour of Acadia National Park.  As we adventure around the Park Loop Road, we’ll discuss the basics of time lapse - a key component to creating star trail images (camera set up, working with intervalometers, intervals times), what to look for, and how to set up for compositions at each location we visit.  The park will be our canvas for the duration of our stay and it’s full of beauty waiting to be captured.  Upon the completion of our scouting tour, we'll return back to the hotel with a few hours of down time.  Grab a bite to eat, explore Bar Harbor, and catch a little rest.  We'll plan to head back out into the park before sunset to capture our first star trail sequences of the in field workshop.

DAY 2: CREATING STAR TRAILS
The second day of our workshop begins in the classroom.  We’ll be working with Lightroom and Photoshop to edit a sequence of images the move into Photoshop to create captivating star trail scenes, utilizing the images we've capture from the previous night.
After our post processing session, plan for a few hours of downtime.   Around sunset, we'll head back into the park to begin our second night of shooting, working with different locations and compositions to create a variety of star trails images.

DAY 3: POST PROCESSING STAR TRAILS & CAPTURING THE MILKY WAY
Day three starts in the class room where we'll render more star trails sequences captured from the previous night.   During this session, we'll work in Lightroom and Photoshop to learn the process of contrast masking.  This technique allows for a foreground exposure and sky exposure to be seamlessly blended together to create a well balanced star trail image with a detailed foreground.
Upon completing our post processing session, plan for a few hours of downtime.   Around sunset, we'll head back into the park for our final night of shooting. We'll plan to explore more locations while applying and practicing the learned methods from the previous two days.

DAY 4: COURSE REVIEW & IMAGE CRITIQUE
Our final classroom session will consist of an in depth course review where we'll spend time answering questions and revisiting techniques and tips from the previous days.  We'll also be looking at and discussing images captured during our adventures around the Park Loop Road in Acadia.
